Hello everyone,

Please, I want advice?

How do you take your Levothyroxine since the time has change? Me I take in consideration the older time? Do I need to take in consideration the actually time always? Also when you travel to another country like EU ? Thank you in advance!

Hi lucs,

It's not important to take your Levothyroxine at exactly the same time each day. I take mine at any time between 3 and 5 a.m. when I wake in the night. As long as you take your tablets regularly every day, an hour here or there doesn't matter at all. Just make sure always to take them on an empty stomach and don't eat or drink anything but water for an hour afterwards.

Best wishes

Caroline

I'm the same as Caroline, I take mine any time between about 3am and 6am, sometimes 7am. It's not crucial for it to be exactly the same time, just take it regularly.

If you travel to another country in the EU the time difference is usually only 1 or 2 hours so again it's not a problem.

I take half my T3 with my Levo, the other half usually the same time every day (I set an alarm to remind, it's on repeat).

I forgot about the clocks changing but when I woke up I picked up my phone to check the time and it wasspot on 5 am, an hour earlier than I would have wanted but I tealised then the time change. So started my day as I always do. The following day, yesterday I woke at midnight and couldn’t get off to sleep-this happens from time to time but I got through the day well, attended a committee meeting in the afternoon and able to give my report in a sensible manner and turned in last night at 10.30, straight off to sleep but set alarm for 6.30 so I didn’t get out of phase. Woke this morning at 6 and now almost ready to start my day-thermometer in mouth as we speak! So my body had cottoned on with my normal time and all’s well with the world. I find it’s easier to stick with a time you are used to than try to remember that in real time it’s changed. If you are just in Levo then it’s storage hormone so will take when it’s needed. I take NDT and my body will start of the T3 when it needs to so things generally are t that critical though I wouldn’t advise a continual go-yo effect.
