Can Hypothyroidism cause intermenstrual bleeding?

I tend to bleed one week after ovulation, which is one week before my actual period. The bleed lasts one day. Could this be due to hypothyroidism?

I believe there are many problems caused by hypothyroidism including cancer itself.

If only we had some tangible proof we could all be rich.

There exists the possibility of many important investigations into the use of thyroid products that no-one seems interested in doing. I can only blame this on the desire of big pharma for the continuation of the status quo for the sake of sales and share price.

The intermenstrual bleed is not a normal thing to occur until you approach menopause - as this can be caused by hormone blips. Even then, you should check that there is nothing else going on. If you have not had a recent smear test done and are not due another for a while, I'd be inclined to call my GP. They may need to do a check 'further up' to check your uterus. It may be uncomfortable, but you want to rule out anything truly worrying.

Thank you. I’m 40 but not nearing menopause, last scan of uterus (few weeks ago) normal, last smear normal. Can stress cause this?

Very likely to be hormonal then... could be a high progesterone to estrogen ratio (the same phenomenon occurs when women take progesterone pills). A hormone check could help you find this out, or if you have problems with thickening of the endometrial lining which blocks estrogen??? If you have endometriosis it can do weird things to periods.
