I'm planning a trip that will involve stopovers in Muslim and other countries. Has anybody had experience of problems with customs? Having my pills confiscated would mean me having to cancel the rest of the trip.
I thought that perhaps I could get a pot of bovine metavive and put my ndt in it.
Does this sound feasible?

I guess it would depend on the country in question and how strict its import laws are. However, the prohibition to consume pork only applies to muslims, as far as I know. If you have a valid doctor's prescription, maybe that would be enough...?
Wouldn't it be best to contact the authorities of the county/countries in question, or their embassies in your country, before the trip?
Issues of travelling have been discussed on the forum before. It seems the official guidance often is to travel with prescription, but obviously that doesn't help those of us who don't have a prescription
I get the impression it is very very rare for medicines to be even looked into. There have been a few long threads where people reported loads of travelling and not having their meds ever questioned.
Like you, my trip would be cancelled if my hormone was ever taken, so I take it very seriously. I think the minimum precaution is to take two sets of generous provision for the whole trip at least, one in hold luggage and one in hand luggage. I am planning a trip for next Spring and as I'm staying with friends thinking of posting all my hormone and supplements in advance so I can know it's safely waiting for me before I set off!
