Dear friends of Thyroid UK

Can I please once again ask for advice.

My last up date was about discharging myself from the endocrinologist, I was wasting his time & mine as he wouldn’t prescribe my T3 which I continue self source.

He explained he couldn’t prescribe the T3 but could up my Levo to 125 mcg from 100 and sent me off with this prescription.

I didn’t take the extra dose but continued the 100mcg & my 15mcg of T3 and have been feeling good.

The Dr telephoned after the attached results were viewed to say I am over medicated and to reduce by to 100mcg immediately.

I didn’t disclose that I hadn’t upped my dose.

Should I reduce the T3 back to 12.5?

My Cholesterol has vastly improved, this was the reason I was sent to the endocrinologist as I didn’t want to embark on the statins route until my meds were right to get the cholesterol down.

I am awaiting Vitamin D results

The blood was taken with no medication for 24 hours.

Just testing TSH and FT4 is completely inadequate

You will need to get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing privately

All thyroid tests should be done as early as possible in morning and no food or drink (except water) before blood test

Last dose levothyroxine 24 hours prior to test

Last dose T3 8-12 hours prior to test. Best to split dose day before testing- 5mcg 8-12 hours prior to test

Your current FT4 is low.

TSH is irrelevant on T3
