Hi All - is anyone having problems with their pharmacist keep giving you other brands of Thyroxine? It seems to me that every time I pick up my Thyroxine I’m told they can’t get hold of it or my supplier hasn’t sent it! It’s driving me nuts. I’m normally taking Actavis 50mg & Mercury Pharma 25mg. He’s said Actavis are stopping making levothyroxine. I’ve emailed them. He’d offered me a different brand then said, oh I can give you 3x 25mg Mercury - one months supply. So I’ve come away with that. I’d moved pharmacy because the one attached to my surgery kept trying to give me Teva! I’ve also read that it is very important to stick to the same brand especially if these work for you.

The brand I want/need, Actavis, is named on my prescription and the pharmacy computer so they know to dispense those and no others. I've never had a problem getting them.

Mine says Actavis too on the prescription & when it’s ordered on the computer. Do you think I should complain to my GP? It doesn’t look as though it’s going to be stopped then? Can I ask which pharmacy you use?

I use Boots. Can you find a more helpful pharmacy ? I know my Boots don't like supplying Actavis because they don't get paid for dispensing it but tough luck !

I’ll might have to move if I get much more of it. Thanks for your help! 😉

I also have Actavis stated on my record at the pharmacy and get it every time.

If you get on OK with Actavis, then Northstar (Lloyds Pharmacy) and Almus (Boots) are also Actavis rebranded for those pharmacy chains so all 3 of those brands are exactly the same tablets (Actavis is written on foil of the blister pack and will be somewhere on the box too).

You will still need MP 25mcg tablets if that suits you as Actavis don't do a 25mcg tablet.

At the moment I'm ok with boots.......... & worry everytime I collect my prescription in case it's different.

I take mercury 25mg. & almus 50 mg.

The thing is, I have read that it is very important that if the brand you are taking is working then it is important that you stick to the same brand. It is irresponsible of the pharmacist not to give you the same brand. We should not have this anxiety every time we pick up our medication. As if having Hashimoto’s isn’t enough to deal with.
