Is it normal to have higher free t3 than free t4?

Hi

If you aren’t medicated is it normal for your free t3 to be higher than your free t4? My free t3 is 50% through the range but my free t4 is 26% through the range. My TSH is currently 1.6 in the afternoon.

Thank you

How do you feel? We don't know what our normal levels were before our thyroid went wrong. Maybe this is your normal.

This is normal, the body tends to defend T3 levels, particulary if the thyroid is failing a little. This paper onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi... describes it in more detail but I'm afraid it is very technical.

What really matters is your signs and symptoms, presumably you suspect a thyroid problem as you had your levels tested.
