Medichecks process question

Hi, on their website it says that you can take a fingerprick test yourself at home but contradicts itself when at checkout it says taken.’ Please note that blood samples MUST be taken by a qualified person.’. Can i just do this myself at home as i have done with other laboratories? Thanks

I have done many Medichecks fingerprick tests and I don't recall seeing this.

Have you checked out?

Are you sure the fingeprick option was selected?

You absolutely do not need a qualified person to stick a lancet in your finger.

msmono, Which blood test you have selected? Most basic tests have a fingerprick option, but can also be done by venous blood draw if you prefer. There are some comprehensive tests that can only be done by venous blood draw.

Ok, what ive found out us that when i tried to buy two tests together, it doesnt allow fingerprick option saying that it would mean collecting too much blood which leads to a bad customer experience. However, it does allow me to select the fingerprick option when i buy the tests separately.

Unless you intend to do more than one test on the same day, it's best to buy in separate orders. This is because if you buy multiple tests in one order you only get one return envelope. If they have a special offer discount and I want to stock up on any test I know I will use within their time limit of 6 months, I make a separate order for each test, then I can do each one whenever it suits me.

I agree with SeasideSusie, make two separate orders. I have no idea why they don't notify of this as part of checkout, but if you order multiple tests together they will assume you are taking both at the same time and will be sending them back in a single envelope.

In the past I've been on the phone arguing with Bluehorizon about this, and eventually had a separate envelope and lab form sent out to me. But it was denied several times by more junior members of staff and a lot of hassle!

Yes - what you and SS have said is exactly right and yes I don't know why they don't mention this.

This happened to me and when test pack arrived it was for a blood draw. I rang them and queried it. They said that if more than one test is ordered it is lumped together and blood needed based on the whole, so finger prick not available. When I explained what I wanted he readily refunded and told me to order each test seperately. They are very helpful. I recommend ringing them.
