Having some lowered bone density I'm advised to take yam HRT by Professor Studd (name tickles me ) says it's safe and protects and rebuilds bones protects heart
But after reading a random article I've seen mention of thyroid meds doing the same?
Has anything been read in the expert books please? Appreciate not, being hypo will help body in many ways gain equilibrium, but does it rebuild bones
You know, I could be quite angry if this has happened due to medical thyroid failure its bad enough making you feel you are fruitcake for years, doesn't do much for confidence levels x

This is an interesting post as I'd never heard this before re thyroid meds. Can you direct me to any posts or which search terms you used? I'm taking HRT but after years of being ok on it, was having problems getting it right even before I started on levothyroxine so I'd be happy to ditch it if that were possible! (what with all the other supplements etc I'm shoving in my gob!) I'm so sorry to hear how you felt around your treatment, I totally relate and so many of us are treated like this. Hope you find some helpful answers.
Hi please I'm not sure about this, so searching previous posts
Scroll up and look at them on the left
Think GG mentions it, re t3 It does make sense regarding how health works as it doesn't when hypo, the HRT is meant to build up bones so if yours are ok that's a good start, have you had a dexa scan
Hi there, I hadn't heard of Thyroid meds impacting on bone density but remember an Endo I was seeing some years ago (he's sadly retired) - who I was seeing at the same time as an orthopaedic surgeon due to vertebrae deterioration. The Endo felt it was my over active thyroid state that had affected my bone density in my spine.
Doctors often prescribe Vitamin D and Calcium to improve bone density, but nearly always in an inadequate dosage. The first step is to ask your doctor to check blood levels of Vitamin D. Next use the calculator to find out what dosage of Vitamin D3 you need to get your serum level into the recommended range (40-60 ng/ml). grassrootshealth.net/projec...
Mine was only 29 ng/mL when first tested.
You can also take calcium if you are deficient. Note that Vitamin D3 requires some co-factors to work well. Taking Vitamin K2 MK7 will help the Vitamin D deposit the calcium into your bones and teeth instead of into soft tissues. You don't really want calcium build-up in your blood vessels or in your breasts. Personally, I take 5000 IU Vitamin D3 with 90 mcg Vitamin K2 MK7. Taking Selenium helps as well (I take 200 mg) . Finally taking Magnesium helps the D to work. news-medical.net/news/20110...
