Hi Everyone,

I'm a 61 year old with Hashi's diagnosed about 15 years ago.I wrote a previous post on this matter

but it has not appeared. I need your advice.

Six months ago I moved to natural desiccated thyroid, and felt much better.

Three months ago my doctor prescribed me 2 and a half grains of NatureThroid, to be taken in split doses.

But I mistook the dosage of the tablets.

Instead of taking 2 grains and one half grain I have been taking 4 grains and half a grain.

In a phone message this morning -through his secretary - my doctor told me just to return to my actual dose of 2 and a half grains. But that seems pretty sudden to me.

Should I reduce more slowly?

And, before you ask, I am getting heart palpitations.

Thank you for any help you can give.

How long have you been taking 4 1/2 grains? The whole three months? If so, you might want to come down more slowly - perhaps 1/2 grain every two weeks? Although, even that might be a bit too fast. 1/4 might be better.
