As some of you know I was dx hypothyroid/Hashi's 20 years ago. Newish symptoms crept up on me over last 4 months so Dr doing load of tests for stuff, as ANA titre was positive, mainly rheumatoid arthritis and lupus as far as I can tell.
But she has not addressed pain my neck/throat which I told her about. She palpated under my jaw, presumably lymph nodes but not around windpipe.
I have never had a visible goitre (as far as I recall). But at 58 and having just lost a lot of weight my neck is quite flabby. The pain/pressure is in an odd place though:
It is not inside my throat (ie no 'sore' throat) but in my neck tissues. Neither is it the typical 'butterfly' place below and either side of my voice box. It is mainly just above my voicebox on both sides and slightly lower and if I press both sides simultaneously through the loose skin just above my voicebox, but not too firmly, there seems to be a swelling.
Can thyroid tissue be here? Would any thyroid swelling/nodules be visible?
