Hi. I hope I am not contravening forum rules in asking this, and I am not expecting replies on the open forum. If anyone is able to help and can PM me I'd really appreciate it.
I have Graves' disease and I am looking for a consultant who will not insist on either RAI or complete thyroidectomy which is what I am currently faced with.
I feel quite desperate as I know that there are doctors out there who openly recognise that Graves' disease is an autoimmune condition and that the thyroid itself is perfectly healthy. They are prepared to treat the autoimmune system and underlying causes while controlling the symptoms of hyperthyroidism. It seems possible to keep someone with Graves' disease in a permanent state of remission when treated holistically. I don't want to loose my perfectly healthy thyroid!
I have read about Dr Abbi Lulsegged who seems to fit the bill, although I have not been able to find any reviews from patients who have actually seen him with Graves' disease in particular. As private appointments are so expensive I want to make sure that I am barking up the right tree.
Maybe there is someone out there who has seen a different doctor along the same lines? Any advice would be very much appreciated via PM.
