I have tried both Thyroid-S and Thiroyd, and find the former to work much better in that it seems to be released at a much slower and steady rate throughout the day compared to Thiroyd. I don't feel the Thyroid-S kick in, just have energy all day long, so I can take it once daily without problems. However, Thiroyd I need to multi dose as it feels like I've been kicked by a horse about an hour after taking it. BTW, I felt the same way on synthetic combo drug Novothyral a few years ago. Thyroid-S is the only drug containing T3 that does not make me feel jittery (I know multi dosing is often recommended, but I simply find it too inconvenient and tend to forget my pm/evening dose).
However, I have never felt quite comfortable about the long list of fillers in Thyroid-S, and I've been particularly concerned lately about aluminium, having read about aluminium toxicity. However, I don't know if the type and quantity of aluminum in TS is a real problem, as I doubt a drug manufacturer would include a filler known to be health hazard...but, then again, this is a drug intended for long-term use, so maybe aluminum levels will build up over time...?
I still prefer TS to other NDT brands, just wanted to check with others on it if those concerns have ever crossed your mind?
Life is a transaction, always. I'm taking Thyroid S and am reassured most especially by the final response in the posting. I will never take an antacid, these days. Hope that helps
I find your post very interesting, as I'm also on Thyroid S.
I was recommended this brand and haven't tried any other NDT hormone replacement. I also tried a T3/T4 combo before settling on Thyroid S and totally agree with your comments on this apparent " slow release " form of NDT.
I find this hormone replacement softer on my body than the combo of T3/T4 and have referred to this difference as that similar to choosing to wear slippers over a pair of stilettoes too sizes too small all day !!!!
The Interesting link offered puts things into perspective.
It feels like Thyroid-S dissolves more slowly so its effects are delivered over a longer period of time compared to Thiroyd. I really dislike this "being kicked by a horse" feeling but, at the same time, not prepared to multi dose...so Thyroid-S offers a much more convenient choice.
