The article was published in 2017 so may have been posted here already.

It is very interesting, quite technical, and something I did not know of:

Thank you for sharing this, albeit two years ago! I only just found it searching on the site for anything about herpes. I had HSV2 activate for the first time in my life four years ago and have been convinced that starting treatment for hypothyroidism had somehow been a trigger. No-one in the medical profession has agreed with me however. I’m sick of ongoing breakouts! I know now from some of my posts here that I’ve been under medicated. So I’m hoping getting my levels in a better place calms the b*^^er down!

Hopefully, if you can get your levels of free t3 optimal it should help reduce the recurrent attacks.

I had shingles about 10 years before being diagnosed I was very overt by that time and suspect I’d had the disorder for a long time and it was relevant. This article would back up that view. My mother also had this pattern of shingles then hypothyroidism but it was primary thyroid cancer in her case, which thankfully I was spared. I still get attacks of simplex 2 ☹️ but I’m sure NDT helps quell them a bit.

Good luck ☘️🍀☘️

Thank you! I’m sorry to know that your mother ended up having thyroid cancer. Strangely (or perhaps not) I also had shingles, I think in my case about 15 years before being diagnosed but, looking back, I was starting to feel not quite right even then.

I’m glad your NDT seems to make a difference. I’m hoping getting my FT3 up does the same for me. Simplex is no fun!
