Underactive again?

Hey all.

It’s been a while. I’d been very stable on a a T3 only dose of 60mcg per day. Unfortunately something bad/ stressful happened in November and I think it triggered a hashi flare up and by January my TSH was 4.9 (can’t find any other results)

Increased to 70mcg and next test results (end of jan):

TSH: 0.42

FT4: <2 (11-22)

FT3: 4.3 (3.1-6.8)

Still didn’t feel great but definitely better. Then in March/ April started getting headaches and lots of uncomfortable neck pains (have a goitre). Went to doc 3 weeks ago for help on neck pain and hoarseness, tested thyroid again and results:

TSH: 0.25

FT4: <2 (11-22)

FT3: 3.7 (3.1-6.8)

They’re doing nothing. Neck still sore, I’m exhausted and having to come home from work to nap. I’m not sure why the results could be like this? Maybe it’s because my most recent test was done at 1pm and the feb one was 9am?

Personally, even if I wasn’t feeling this rotten, I’d still say my ft3 is low. Any advice on these odd results? Anything I can do with neck pain?

Thanks so much

You're FT3 is low, that's why you feel rotten. Presumably, your thyroid has been under attack and more has been destroyed and you now need more exogenous T3. Your FT4 is low because you're taking T3 only, but your gland is still producing some. And your TSH is low because you are taking T3. Do you always take your T3 on an empty stomach, etc. just like you would levo?

Thanks Goose. Every morning at roughly the same time. Years ago, when first put on T3, I’d split the dose during the day but that didn’t seem to work for me at all. I take it when I wake up (around 6am). Weekends is a little later, this morning was 8am. Don’t eat anything for at least an hour and don’t use caffeine. Although this week I’ve had two cups of tea in the afternoon x

OK, so you need another increase in dose. Hashi's is a slow deterioration of the gland, so not surprising if doses need to be increased from time to time. :)
