Hashimoto's and low white blood cells

Hello,

I have just been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and am trying to piece together all my other test result to understand if there might be a link. I had a full blood count this week and my white blood cells count was below the lower reference range (3.5 vs a reference range of 4-11) as were my lymphocytes (1 vs a reference range of 1.5-3.5). I also have several nutrient deficiencies and low functioning pancreas which I posted about in another post just this week.

I have felt extremely fatigued this week which I thought was a symptom of Hashimoto’s but now I am wondering if it is my WBC? As this occur because of hashimoto’s?

Any input would be greatly appreciated as it all seems very confusing (and I’m quite worried).

Xx

As Hashimotos is an Auto-Immune Disease I would expect to see your WBC towards the lower end of the range, mine always is. However if I feel particularly bad and fatigued and can't seem to shake it off this has usually happened when I've had a virus or something has flared me more than usual. As your body is attacking itself you need to get to the underlying causes and stop it so you can put it into remission and calm your system. Triggers are things that stress your body and can be many things e.g. food sensitivities, intolerances, digestive issues, gut infections and parasites, gut symbiosis and Leaky Gut, poor methylation and detoxification, heavy metals and toxins, environmental stress, emotional and physical stress such as an injury etc. Dr. Izabella Wentz is an Expert on Hashimotos. She has a good website with lots of free info and 2 books too that explain it all and give you a clear plan to work through to find your root cause and figure it all out. In the meantime, Colostrum is a supplement that has always helped me when I feel like this. It is the only thing that has built me back up and is amazing stuff, worth looking into getting this supplement. Hope that helps.

I have been tested for hashi many times and my antibodies are always in nor al range. But I do have ITP another auto immune issue which involves low platelets. I have a very low WBC, actually lower then yours, mine is 2.2 with same reference ranges. I also have low lymphocyte. The WBC and lymphocytes work together so it is no surprise when both are low. I saw a hematologist for this and he was useless. Sometimes it can have something to do with bone marrow as well as auto immune issue.

My low WBC has been going on for 7 years now. My healing journey has involved eradicating sibo, removing mercury fillings, working on methylation, removing heavy metals, removing sukpha drugs from my body due to a severe allergic reaction many years ago that left me ill.

I am hoping as I do these healing steps my WBC will raise. I am vegan as well and I believe this can also lower my WBC

Low lymphocytes can equate to low b vitamins - specifically B6 and possibly low folate and b12 as well. If you're not taking b6 the best sort is called p5p as it has few side effects and works straight away. A few things can cause low b6, one, is obviously diet - if you're vegan you must try to have lots of avocados, sweet potatoes or red peppers as the best sources of b6 are found in salmon and chicken; another is something called 'pyroluria' which isn't well documented or defined, but you'd have low zinc symptoms such as white specks on nails as well and may find it hard digesting fats and animal protein; or you may have a MTHFR mutation that makes it hard for you to absorb b vitamins - you'd possibly be aware of such deficiencies from folate and b12 blood tests. Low copper can also cause low white cells, but I believe that's neutrophils not lymphocytes...I've muddled them before, but now know the difference.
