Thyroid and antibodies

Hi Thyroid Community.

Me and my wife have been trying for a child for over a year.

I had a overactive thyroid for 4 years and about 1 month ago I had my thyroid gland removed and naturally I am now under active.

I recently had a sperm test done and it is showing high levels of antibodies..

My question is could these two be linked.. does being under active affect anti bodies and if yes what could be done.

Which type of antibody?

More than one type?

I am presuming you have been put on some thyroid hormone replacement. it will take a while to get to a good dose of you. Not heard of antibodies being found or looked for in sperm before but if they are thyroid antibodies (did they give you a name for the type) you might do well to go gluten free to see if that helps.

It will take a while for you to recover your health so keep coming back to us until you do. You should be treated by your doctors with an aim to make you symptom free, dont let them phob you off with anything less.

Hi

Thank you for your reply.

Basically my sperm test results showed high levels of sperm antibodies that’s all that was said in the letter. I just didn’t know wether the two was linked... I suppose it’s something to ask my endo

Good luck with asking your endo something that might involve some back ground knowledge on thyroid health. Somebody on here might know something but as thyroid conditions mainly affect women it will proabably be amoungst us lot and the professionals something little heard of. I will have a google , see what I can come up with.

Well done for coming on here to ask for guidance .. 🦋

but before we are able to advise ... you really need to ask your Doctor or Endo the question ... as there are many , many types of antibodies ..... which one is it that you have ?

The name of it would be really helpful in finding the answers you need .

Oh .. and the very best of luck trying for that wee baby 👶

There's actually quite a lot about it on the net. This is one example:
