Hi All wondering if anybody can shed some light on my medichecks hormone check I had done after yet another disappointing visit to endo I visited GP who told me that these results were normal and if anything the indicated that my pituitary is working really well!!!!

my pituitary scan (done without contrast) showed that I have an irregular shaped pituitary gland which may or may not be clinically significant whatever the hell that means and basically sod off! I have been diagnosed with mild secondary Hypo and have a multinodular thyroid with no sign of cancer. but based on the below results is that how any of you would interpret this... I would have thought that the results would have some significance - any input appreciated! FSH

3.85 IU/L reference range - 3.5 - 12.5

LH

20.1IU/L reference range - 2.4 - 12.6

OESTRADIOL

1,199 pmol/L reference range - 45.4 - 854

TESTOSTERONE

2.11nmol/L reference range 0.29 - 1.67

FREE ANDROGEN INDEX

2.11 reference range 0.2 - 7.1

PROLACTIN

1,198mU/L reference range 102 - 496 for reference I am 48 childless (had 5 miscarriages about 10 years ago) take 50mg Levo daily and do not take any other medication or supplements. I live in the channel Islands so trying to decide if I should find a pituitary specialist in UK or whether my GP is right and there is no significance to these results. He did mention they could possibly but unlikely be PCOS but I have no symptoms of this at all. thanks for reading

Hi Lambyla1 - just on a bit of a tangent really - I have myself been wondering about pushing for a pituitary scan as I wonder if that is what is at the bottom of my hypo condition. What was the reason you had the scan ?

Well mine is a bit of a long odd story. I live in Jersey so it is very difficult to get an endo appointment. I suffered 5 miscarriages in quick succession and never felt quite well after that. Of course GPS just thought ptsd etc but I had 'll the hypo systems and was exhausted. I fought for 10 years (and to be fair they did test for everything but found nothkng) eventually I went to my gp cried and demanded Levo and when he said no I told him to put it on my medical records that I was going to buy it illegally from Thailand and if it damaged my heart so be it. He panicked and got me an endo appointment. Endo told me he would give me a trial to shut me up but it wouldn't work. 6 months later (when my thyroid levels were still normal) he had to give in and admit I was right as I should have been hyper by that point!! That's when they had to scan. Still don't have all the answers but feel a lot better on Levo. Where are you diagnosis wise? What are your sympto.s.

If you've had five miscarriages in quick succession I'm assuming you could have had some significant blood loss, depending on what stage you'd reached each time. Have you ever had your iron and ferritin measured? (Low iron and/or ferritin is common with low thyroid as well.) And what about other nutrients, such as vitamin D, vitamin B12, and folate?

The list of results you've given above don't include TSH, Free T4 and Free T3. Do you have recent results for those?

Hi humanbean all my miscarriages were between 6 and 11 weeks with no significant blood loss I have also been tested for heamochromatosis as have tested high for iron 3 times. Unfortunately just fit into that bracket of people for whom there is no obvious answer x
