Am I showing signs of rickets?

I didn't know where to post this but I've noticed the lower half of my legs are bending and there is a clear discrepancy between the knee joint and the lower half of the leg. The right side seems to be worse than the left and I dont know if it's because I have rickets. This is causing me huge anxiety because it's becoming more noticeable, especially in tight fitted Jeans.

Why not pop along to discuss this with your GP, ask to have Vit D and calcium tested.

Could I ask you what you meant by shoulder impeachment? The reason I ask is because I have a shoulder problem and was wondering if it too could be related to thyroid. Thanks

Hi,

Just a second suggestion. Do you have any back problems? Sometimes a leg will twist due to the back being out.

Not that I know of but I have noticed that my spine sticks out more than other peoples. I'm going to make an appointment with my GP soon. Better to stop the problem before it progresses as I get older.

Never mind him being ashamed! Your hypothyroidism was allowed to proceed without the necessary thyroid hormone dose and thus you suffer with additional problems:-

Sorry to hear you are concerned about the possibility of rickets, hopefully we can point a way forward.

Has this happened recently?

Do you eat a well balanced diet?

Vitamin D rich foods and sunshine for healthy bones

Do you have any pain?

We are not naturally symmetrical and as time passes our bodies change in shape - though I guess you are young and possibly still growing a little. Ah! Just checked your profile,...

I suspect, if you have rickets, your thighs and knees, along with your lower limbs, would be bowed from downward pressure.

Have you ever twisted your knee?

Maybe the huge anxiety you mention is the problem, since it's causing you obvious and genuine concerns a visit to your GP seems the best move. Would it help if you took a confidant along with you

Write a list of all the things that are concerning you...available tests etc. I tend to forget what I want to say in a surgery setting and find this helps. Once you have those results you can deal with the issue rather than worrying about it. Hopefully, as I suspect, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Just a few thoughts.

PS ....hope you are not concerned about what other people think....take it from this "ancient", it really doesn't matter.

So , JaneyJaney has he carried out a thyroid function test?

Time to get your health improved.

TSH, FT4, FT3 folate, ferritin, Vit zB12 and Vit D. should all be tested initially

I had a very painful shoulder (rotor cuff) a few years ago which was cured by a steroid injection. However, that was before my thyroid medication was optimal - interestingly I also had severe cocyx pain which vanished when I achieved that.

Good luck

"In Range" is no good to us when the TSH should be 1 or lower and the FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of the ranges.
