T3 Hospital have refused to supply another prescription!!

I have been getting my T3 prescription from my hospital consultant since the rules changed. Had a phone call today saying they would no longer be prescribing it, to say I’m shocked is an understatement, I have been on T3 for over 20 years. I rang the hospital pharmacist and she said there had been some confusion as some other thyroid medication had been removed but not T3 and she would find out what was going on. Fingers crossed she sorts it out .

This is directly AGAINST guidelines

If NHS endocrinologist says you have clinical need you should be prescribed

CCG can NOT stop it

Which CCG area is hospital in?

You may need individual funding request via your endocrinologist. But prescription can not be stopped while this is under review

Luckily I work at the hospital and am known to the out patient pharmacist, so I rang and spoke to her and she is trying to sort it out as she said I was the second person who had been told that. I will update as I hear back. On 2 weeks holiday and very stressed 😩

I’m not getting very far and am panicking, my endo agreed I needed T3 and has been prescribing it. Took my last dose today and don’t have an appointment till Friday, they seem to be saying it’s a hospital thing and they are coming in line with other hospitals, what can I do please?

Ring endo and explain you have run out of T3 and that situation is urgent

Can they provide urgent prescription

Always order new prescription well ahead of needing it in future

Would they let a diabetic run out of insulin?

Thank you, they only supply one month at a time, so normally ask for one with two weeks to go but with being away and the bank holiday I was a bit late.

Result, they admit they made a mistake, good news for me but bad news for anyone on Armour/Erfa as they are the ones the pharmacist will not dispense.

Thank you for your help 😀
