Hey all! I have been referred to a specialist because I have a retrosternal goitre which is u3 status from ultrasound, even though they have marked it as urgent I have a 9 week wait. Does anyone know what the ENT process is like? The lady I spoke to last week said they have downloaded it and given me a slot but it hasn't been "graded" yet so the appointment might change? Also has anyone had vascular nodules? That's why it is classed as u3.
Thanks 😁

Sounds as though you are fitted in according to your referral by a secretary so all get a date, but probably slots are left for more urgent patients once a medic has read your doctors notes so I wouldn't worry about that. Can't answer the rest of your post though but try not to worry.
Thanks for the reply 😁 I've not had a great deal of info at the min, yeah sounds like they give you a slot so you have one then take it from there. I haven't had a letter yet so I guess I'll just have to chase them if I don't hear soon. It's all a waiting game! Even though the radiologist said I should have a biopsy I probably wont have one for another 3 or 4 months
Time moves so slowly when you are concerned and I appreciate this but at least the expert has the ultrasound to guide his thoughts so try to trust his judgement. He will know whether it's an emergency or static enough to leave that length of time but I appreciate it's easier for me to say that and in your shoes I would probably be concerned as well. I suspect you are already in the fast track list at 9 weeks but you may be bumped up a bit if others in the list can, in effect, swap places with you. Hospital have many things to juggle so theatre lists may not truly reflect that as depending on expected times needed a lesser concern could be slotted in to fill up a day rather that leaving gaps so I expect it's not as easy as it seems but fingers crossed you get another letter soon with more information. In the mean time try not to worry as they have your info now and will act accordingly.
Yeah definitely true. I'm sure they can decide how quickly they need to get me in 👍 one thing that I thought was strange though and I wished I'd asked at the time, the radiologist only checked my left lobe on ultrasound. He was behind with his appointments, hoping that isnt the reason he didnt do all of my thyroid! I best make sure I tell them that when I have my appointment.
Thanks for your advice, I'm trying to put it to the back of mind. At least I'm on their list now like you said, and fingers crossed any tests are done not long after. I completely understand wait times, its just my doctors reception have been so unprofessional with me, giving me results over the phone without a gp explaining them to me etc. And telling me my results arent in when I've already received them, so as you can imagine I've been concerned with the handling of my referrals and securing an appointment let alone the actual reason I'm going in the first place! I'll let you know how I get on
