Hi I saw my Gp yesterday after having a blood test. My TSH was 1.7
I asked if my Levothyroxine could be raised slightly as I have been having problems with very weak leg muscles and painful feet and generally not feeling well . In January she put me on Propranolol for anxiety, shortness of breath and palpitations. This has helped with that but have heard I shouldn’t be taking them with Levothyroxine, is this right? I would have thought a Gp should know if they aren’t compatible?

Hi 5219 maybe change the title of your post from mg to mcg . And at least in my opinion right or wrong as it may be. Your original symptoms (anxiety, shortness of breath and palpitations) are all side effects of Thyroxine and or too higher dosage.
Breathless can be either of first two and anxiety could be caused by low thyroid hormones.
Don’t forget to get get a check in 6 weeks to see how the increase has affected your levels. You may want to ask for free t4 and t3 too as tsh alone isn’t giving the whole picture.

Not necessarily, I'm afraid. Doctors are grossly under-medicated where thyroid is concerned. The fact that he would give you a Beta Blocker at all for hypo symptoms shows that. Anxiety and palpitations are more than likely due to you being under-medicated. 1.7 is to high for the TSH of someone on thyroid hormone replacement. Propanolol can affect the conversion of T4 to T3, and it's low T3 that causes symptoms.
Shortness of breath can also be due to low iron. Have you had your vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin tested? Most doctors don't know that they should be tested, too, when you're hypo.
Also, could your shortness of breath possibly be due to asthma? Hypothyroidism and asthma often go together, and you shouldn't take Beta Blockers if you have asthma. But a lot of doctors don't know about that, either. I'm afraid you can't just count on your doctor to know everything. Always check that what he's giving you is the right thing.
I am an active person. I don’t train as such. I do Pilates and aqua fit. I walk a fair bit and I love gardening but I don’t have the stamina or strength. I am in agony afterwards.
Eat healthy, antioxidant nutrition And try to do some think every day. For me that's works 100%
