Has anybody experienced any side effects such as bad acne or anxiety with the Teva brand levothyroxine?
Over the years ive gone from 25mcg to 50mcg to 75mcg.
Ive found when using the Teva brand within days i have a face full of acne. Growing up ive never had acne. Only during ‘time of the month’
Ive resorted in taking 3 x 25mcg Milpharm brand and my acne disappears? I also feels incredibly anxious and nervous when taking Teva brand levothyroxine.

Many, many members have had adverse reactions of one sort or another with Teva brand Levo.
If you get any side effects when using this brand then tell your pharmacist and GP and ask for a different brand. If there is a brand you know you get on well with then ask for that each time, it does no good to keep chopping and changing brands. Maybe your GP will agree to name a brand on your prescription or, as my pharmacy does, make a note to only dispense a certain brand.
When you pick up your Levo, open the pharmacy bag whilst you are still at the counter. If you have Teva then hand it back, ask for your preferred brand. If they can't or wont get it for you then ask for your prescription back and ring round other pharmacies to see who has the brand you prefer.
Also, please submit a Yellow Card Report for the adverse reactions you are getting with Teva
I hope that’s the answer for you. For me I would get acne when under medicated. My GP told me that that was impossible and it’s likely a sugn that I’m over medicated because my skin is producing too much oil.total rubbish for me! Definitely a sigh of under medication.
Definitely a sign of under medicated is acne for me too same as Paula6. I’ve just returned Teva to my pharmacist as I had a bad anxious reaction from the liquid form. I requested that I do not have Teva in future. After 2 days back on Wokhardt I was fine.
I started on Teva due to lactose intolerance and worked up from 25mcg to 100mcg, and my acne flared up along my chin and jawline at the same time. I have only got it under control now with a topical salycilic acid treatment from boots. I am putting it down to the hormonal shifts that have been going on, not specifically to the Teva brand. I've also started red light therapy which should help keep it under control.
Update... I've been using azelaic acid 10% treatment by The Ordinary, and it's working really well, no new flare ups. It's a bit stronger than the salycilic acid treatment. For once, it's a skin treatment that doesn't cost a fortune!
