T3 help

So I’ve now been on pure T3 for about five weeks now.

I honestly feel terrible so far.

Yes I am losing weight now. Slowly and healthily. It was impossible before as I had a high reverse T3.

I now feel hungover constantly and the urge to sleep throughout the day is over bearing.

I am on 25mg of T3.

I take 12.5 in the morning when I wake up and 12.5 at 3pm.

If I take the 25 in one go I can feel the effects like a caffeine hit.

Is this normal?

I am visiting my doctor next week.

That’s a very low dose for T3 only, but it is normal to be able to feel it.

There's no background on your profile

Do you have Hashimoto's?

Had thyroidectomy or RAI?

Have you been on Levothyroxine before T3 was added?

How long and what dose?

Blood test results and ranges for thyroid, TSH, FT4 and FT3 before T3 was started?

How much Levothyroxine are you taking now?

What are your most recent blood test results and ranges for vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12?

What supplements do you currently take for improving vitamins?

Why did you start T3 ? Were your levels of B12 - Folate - Ferritin - VitD - all optimal before you introduced T3. No info on your Bio ... Do you have any results to share. Maybe you are taking it too fast ...

How are your adrenal glands functioning? Have you had a recent 24 hour saliva test for them? I needed T3 but it crashed me, I found out the hard and long way and it's only recently I learned this crashing was probably due to chronic hypoadrenalism.

Sorry - you just haven’t given us enough info to go on so it’s difficult to help. We really need to know how you’ve arrived at this point, the history, results of relevant blood tests etc.

Everyone with thyroid issues is different. There’s no such thing as a common dosage of thyroid hormone replacement - that depends on so many variables.

In case you have Hasimothos, my understanding is that T3 is not the best option. It's the active thyroid hormone which our bodies need. It would make sense that this should be the the best option for us. Well, according to this dr. Richard Hagmeyer, Hashimoto's patients shouldn't use straight T3.

Our bodies converts t4 to t3 slowly as needed, so dumping pure t3 in your body can create problems.

Some people use compounded farmacies to compound a slow release t3.

But of course, there are so many opinions even amongst best doctors, that sometimes we have to figure out what is best for us.
