Hey. Can anyone explain to me why after yrs (26) of taking thyroxen I still don't have answers. I was diagnosed interactive thyroid and given thyroxen...till I reached 75mg I was on that strength for 7 yrs feeling no different. I started to introduce more thyroxen till I reached 200mg having (normal) blood test along the way and feeling better. 3 yrs ago I was asked to reduce to 175 (I never) I stuck to the 200mg these last 12 months I'm in so much pain, could fall asleep all the time, I'm so exhausted. Doc ordered bloods (him thinking I'm on 175mg) wrote this amount on my blood form, when all along I take 200 and never said. Guess what bloods came back normal for how/why when for the last 16yrs ive been taking 200mg. I explained to the Doc, now they agree to prescribe the 200 instead of 175......That doesn't help my symptoms I said as I still feel awful, can you do other test or refer me. No he said, bloods are normal. I'd appreciate any take, hopefully you can make head&tail out of this, know it's a bit complicated.
Can you add your most recent blood test results and ranges
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw). This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins
