A B Complex contains B vitamins, copper is a mineral and wouldn't be included in a B Complex.
Look for a good B Complex containing methylfolate rather than folic acid, and methylcobalamin rather than cyanocobalamin.
Thanks.
Most people who want a B-complex probably expect to find the full range of B vitamins. Which won't be the case in a nutritional yeast supplement unless it is in some way fortified. If it has any B12, it will have been added. In fact, some nutritional yeast products make it clear that other B vitamins are also added ingredients.
Fine if you want the flavour or other attributes of nutritional yeast. Otherwise, why not just get a good B-complex?
So why suggest a nutritional yeast?
Even ignoring the B12 issue, the balance is not the same as a well-balanced B-complex. (Unless the manufacturer adds some to achieve that balance.)
As regards B12, many contain B12 simply because people expect it to be there! But it will be added.
Have to say, I find it hard to consider nutritional yeast to be a food in the conventional sense.
But if someone followed your suggestion and simply took nutritional yeast, they could end up inadvertently taking a product which contains non-food source vitamins, against your advice. (Often they contain added B12 and sometimes folic acid.) Or taking a product which does not have the full complement of B vitamins in balance that many of us would expect to be in a B-complex.
That is, nutritional yeast is not unconditionally an alternative to a B-complex.
