I take 50 mcg thyroxine in the morning and have introduced a thyroid support formula in the evening which contains 60 ug iodine with other vitamins and minerals. Is this safe as I have not spoken to my gp

Until modern drugs were developed, iodine in solution was used as an antithyroid med to treat hyperthyroidism. Unless you are properly tested and found iodine-deficient, it's not advisable to supplement with iodine, and should only then take it with professional guidance. I'd also guess that there are other ingredients in your "thyroid support" that aren't a good idea, such as kelp perhaps?
