Hi folks . I have Tsh 30 +, antibodies 365, no symptoms, saw Dr today who said that, i do not present as she would expect someone to do with those figures, + doesn`t know why. Can`t tolerate 25 mcg Levo, am starting on 6.25 dose tomorow. Could there be anyhing else going on please? Thanks

Its possible theTSH test suffered interference giving an artificially high result. You need to ask for another TSH test done by a different method. Antibodies in your blood can interfere with some TSH tests.

Hello there, + thankyou. I`ve had 3 done in the last 2 months. 2 via gp, + 1 at hospital. The 1st one was 24, then up to 27, then 30+ . Do you know how to get it testeddifferently at all please?, many thanks :)

Perhaps a Medichecks private test.

GP probably means....you haven't gained a lot of weight

Not all hypothyroid people gain weight. Some struggle to maintain weight

Are you taking any vitamin supplements? Biotin in B vitamins can sometimes falsely affect blood test results.

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Ask GP to test vitamins and to do a coeliac blood test as well

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's.

Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten.

Thankyou very much for all that. Ye, my Gp`s are very stubborn when it comes to bloods, so i think i`ll have to get them done privately if i want to get all the info i need. many thanks for that :)

My tsh was 22 when I was diagnosed and I felt fine, its only since Ive started levo that Ive been ill

I wouldn’t take any medication until they did a FULL thyriod test. Do Not start that Levo! You need blood test to accurately get a picture of where you are atm. By all means take the prescription but if GP won’t do full blood test then get it done privately.

Hello there. The only bloods they`d do were my t4 - 11.4, my tsh, 30 + antibodies 365. said they don`t do t3 or any vitamins. Ye, i`m def going to send off for a kit. I don`t see how the gp can get proper idea of what`s going on with only half the information either :/
