vitabay vit d3 10,000 drops does anyone take these?
I use Vitabay K2 and have just ordered Vitabay D3 as my D3 softgels run out in a couple of weeks.
I personally wouldn't take a 10,000iu dose D3, I take a smaller dose regularly. Even with a higher dose less frequently, you are going to have to remember to take it, and I would have thought that taking it every day is easier to remember than taking it every so often.
"it says i can take this once just every 10 days which sounds great as I am not very good at taking my supplements everyday,"
That is just 1,000iu daily. That is just a maintenance dose for someone who has a decent level already. You don't yet know how much D3 you need to supplement. I mentioned in reply to your post a week or so ago that you need your current level of Vit D to know how much to supplement. So I would retest your level before starting to supplement.
Thank you SeasideSusie , yes I know you said I must get tested first....and I know that makes sense.... i just get frustrated and change my medication and then think I can try and do it without going for tests....maybe I can just see how I feel first, I know that's silly, I seem to find organising going to GP and tests really difficult! Just got to pull myself together and do it...will do it on Monday, won't take any supplements yet then, at least I have them ready to go!
I have posted another post tonight re my medication and why am I not getting it right, don't know if you will have time to look at that too!
Your GP may not do Vit D, they tell us it's an expensive test. There is an NHS lab that offers a fingerprick blood spot test for £29

When supplementing we should test twice a year to ensure we keep within the recommended range of 100-150nmol/L and not head towards the risk of toxicity (220nmol/L +)
I paid for the test Susie has linked to. It's very easy to do. I found I was deficient so am supplementing; not with drops though. The Vitamin D council recommends 5,000iu uf you are deficient - vitamindcouncil.org/about-v...
Scroll down to find recommended amounts.

This is the table which recommends how much D3 to take for whatever our level is when tested and the level we wish to achieve. There's no blanket 5,000iu for "deficiency".
The table gives the US unit of measurement of ng/ml, we have to multiply that 2.5 to get the unit of measurement of nmol/L that's used in the UK.
Hi patchypink. It's hard to always remember to take our meds. So for me I have a system in place. It's not the only way to organize meds-find what might work for you. But have a plan.
When I first wake up I'm in a fog, need my meds, may have to get out of the house quickly for an appt. All these morning pressures make getting pills together for the day a low priority. And I only have myself to worry about. Assembling my pills weekly at least gives me a fighting chance.
I'm almost embarrassed to suggest this but I use several 7 day pill containers with days of the week on them. At least if the daily box is full I know I forgot. I use 3 pillboxes-blue has all my meds except thyroid. Those are in a little yellow container because I take them so early in the am this box is by my bed with water. "Get up to pee around 5am, take my thyroid pills, back to sleep. And a pink container for supplements.
Very occasionally for a med I need short term (for a course of antibiotics for instance) I set my phone alarm for times meds are due (3 x day/ 4 x day etc.)
Foe several years I took coumadin (anticoagulant) daily at 4PM. Ir was important not to miss that dose so I had a phone alarm set for 4 everyday.
If I go out I throw my blue container in my purse. It's easy to forget what we took and what we didn't. But some pills are more important not to forget. Thyroid is one of them.
Some say leave our meds in their labelled bottles but I believe since many of us have more thyroid knowledge than our doctors we are bright enough to distinguish our pills from each other.
I also bring my 3 containers to the hospital in case they don't have brands I like or tend to bring my thyroid meds too close to breakfas if the nurses are busy. Then I take my own on my schedule. Drives them nuts but I do this. That's another story!
Hope this helps. irina😊
