Silent Acid Reflux

I suspect I have this condition, due to some chronic symptoms.

Is the bicarb of soda/burp test the best way to check if I have low or high stomach acid?

It's the cheapest and easiest way to test. This is the protocol

1.Mix 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 4-6 ounces of cold water first thing in the morning before eating or drinking anything.

2.Drink the baking soda solution.

3.Time how long it takes you to belch. Time up to five minutes.

If you have not belched within five minutes, stop timing.

In theory, if your stomach is producing adequate amounts of stomach acid you’ll likely belch within two to three minutes. Early and repeated belching may be due to excessive stomach acid (but don’t confuse these burps with small little burps from swallowing air when drinking the solution). Any belching after 3 minutes indicates a low acid level.

Actually HCl pepsin is rated better as per link below identified in this forum

Thank you! I Have read the link.I have started eating meat again (to address low energy)& got my capsules out ready to use with my meat meals,so I will do the test with HCI pepsin.

Then I use soda I take 1 tea spoon. If not good after five minutes I take another one. Soda kills bacteria and mold too. For fungus don't know. But I believe that it ruins CO2 bubbles which protect colonies of Heliobactor pilory bacteria from stomach acid. Generally soda helps. But for Heliobactor bacteria treatment with two antybiotics is the best.

I would recommend using probiotics. These healthy bacteria help to solve various digestion problems and improve gut health. They can be a huge relief from your condition. Try taking some yogurts and if these do not help, I would recommend you try probiotic supplements. The most effective I have tried has been Flourish Probiotics by Eu Natural.

Many thanks for your reply.I took probiotic capsules for several years. Then I watched Dr Michael Moseley get top scientists to test them. They did not do well surviving the stomach & reaching the intestine alive.Kefir did very well. Now I make my own kefir or buy kefir.I also take a prebiotic in powder form(inulin)I eat yoghurt, too.
