I have a visible lump at front of neck, ultrasound showed it to be a U3 category nodule 3.5 cms. I have a referral appointment with endocrinology department in 10 weeks. Is this a normal waiting time, my doctor said she was marking it as urgent!
Thanks

Wouldn’t have thought that’s correct. Surely a nodule should be on the 28? Day protocol. I was called about an incidental nodule found at mri. I saw ENT the next day.
Thank you for your reply, I have checked with GP surgery who say it isnt urgent, unfortunately my usual GP is on leave so I had to have a telephone appointment with a locum. I am now looking into going to a private doctor, worth the money not to wait.
You will need a biopsy so if that’s not done before it’s more waiting. GP should send you to ent urgently, endo takes over afterwards. ( or did in my case).
Good news and bad news. Hi, thanks for all your help, I asked for a second opinion and now will get an appointment within two weeks. First appointment was for the endocrinology department this one is for head and neck cancer. I'm a glass half full person so am trying to remain optimistic.
How did you get on? Hope you are sorted! I was told I have a u3 nodule too and was told it would be a 9 week wait to ent but luckily I've got a cancellation through ereferral for this wed. Same as you, told I would probably need a biopsy but have to wait to see the consultant first. Such a waiting game!
