What can i do when i am tired in the morning?

I take 4 Grain NDT(2 years). Since a few months i am every morning tired.

I tried for 4 days 1 Grain during the night. My tiredness in the morning is blown away buti awake 3-4 times in the night and are not sleeping more than 6-6,5 hours.

What i can do?

Although I cannot advise on NDT dosage as I do not take it, nor have you posted your lab results, it sounds as though you have a problem with your adrenals producing cortisol at night which is keeping you awake. By the morning, when you should be getting the first rush of cortisol to wake you up, you are already deficient and therefore exhausted.

This problem could be because you are struggling to absorb your NDT properly, along with vital vitamins and minerals such as vitamin d, b12, iron and Magnesium; or you are going through menopause and have hormone imbalances; or you are experiencing a lot of stress; or your thyroid antibodies are very high; or you may even have an autoimmune problem with your adrenals as well.

I would see your GP about this and get a full up to date thyroid panel to include free T3, antibodies, Ferritin, folate, b12 and vitamin d and come back here with your results. In the meantime it could be worth trying some Magnesium Citrate powder or some Magnesium Spray or Gel at bedtime to see if that helps with your insomnia (it will relax your muscles). Most health food shops stock both.

Have you had any other symptoms? Weight gain, brain fog weight gain or constipation?

You should post your blood test results with the ranges on here for answers, plus results of B12, folate, ferritin Vitamin D and Antibodies. We have no information on you so far?

You will require TSH, T4 and FT3 results. Many doctors will not do these test lots on this site have their own private tests done.

B12 is quite low in range. I'd definitely consider supplementing methylcobalamin as a sublingual or spray. Low B12 may be one reason why you're so tired.

Check folate levels as well. If that's also low in range as well I recommend a quality b complex like Igennus B Complex as it contains Folate as Methylfolate which is very well absorbed, as well as B12 and B5 and p-5-p, all good for the adrenals.

Pregnenolone levels deplete with age. Dr Sarah Myhill recommends this as a supplement for many of her patients suffering from CFS with adrenal fatigue.. please check out this link and quote.

drmyhill.co.uk/wiki/Common_...

"Pregnenolone steal – if the body becomes stressed, for whatever reason, then the production of adrenal hormones is moved away from the anabolic building, healing and repair hormones to the catabolic stress hormones such as cortisol. In essence, when sufficiently stressed, pregnenlone is diverted away from making anabolic hormones to making catabolic hormones, essentially cortisol. Consequently, less hormone is available for healing and repair. "

Another thing you may benefit from is Vitamin C taken as powder in water + juice with some celtic sea salt added to have when you feel exhausted. It's good that you're already taking zinc.

Finally, if you are taking vitmain d you absolutely must also have Magnesium.. see link and this quote.. or all the great benefits of vitamin d will not be happening for you..

"Magnesium is 'Used Up' when Vitamin D is converted into its active form in the blood

Magnesium is 'Required' to convert Vitamin D into its active form in the blood."

easy-immune-health.com/magn...

(I don't take pregnenalone, but it comes well recommended. I can however say that with all the other supplements I mention.. I no longer feel tired in the mornings myself. )

I have do saliva cortisol test. Cortisol is top. Vitamin B12 i have taken. Are there other causes than thyroid or adrenal glands?

HLAB35 profile image
HLAB35 in reply tocharley123

Yes, thanks, I saw that - and cortisol is currently above range, so your adrenals are not completely 'broken' yet, but you're sufficiently stressed to be wearing those adrenals down with above range cortisol - it's basically not sustainable.

If you're taking B12 there is more than one sort and methylcobalamin is the best absorbed form to get your levels improving.

You're not wrong in suggesting other causes - there's always the possibility of a pituitary issue and there's no harm in asking for a second opinion.

i have live very quiet all my live. but since the middle of 2017 i live in a flat by the railway. i go used to but maybe the body not. i have sleep al my life and woke up 1-3 times in the night in different sleep duration. since the problem middle 2018 i woke up 1 time and sleep always 8 hours. The sleep is deeper and i can not hear the bell. Erlier without the problem in the morning i can hear the bell the sleep was not so deep.

i have google why i feel better in the morning when i don't sleep or my sleep is disturbed but i have found nothing.

Only what about adenosine..but i don't know.

I don't know to which doctor i should go. I was he make blood test and say that psychologically

You sad pituitary issue. I have think maby growth hormone..but after 26 years life?

That's not as unusual as many doctors believe. A friend had a benign growth on his pituitary gland and had a wide range of symptoms and hormonal issues. I would definitely ask for someone to check if you have other hormonal excesses or deficiencies and then it will be clearer. If you have ever had a head injury the doctor should know about it as this could also effect your pituitary.

Make this a sense to switch from NDT to T3 only?

HLAB35 profile image
HLAB35 in reply tocharley123

I am not the best person to help you compare the merits of NDT versus t3 only, so it may be worth making a new post on the forum.

It may also be worth checking your homocysteine levels through your GP as high ones can be linked to insomnia. A tv doctor (can't remember his name) had them (and insomnia) and managed to sort them out. High homocysteine causes long term serious health issues.

If you find out that you have high homocysteine it is really important you have these b vitamins - b12, folate and b6 as p5p. You may find taking p5p will help you sleep better anyway (I do, especially with zinc and Magnesium).
