Blood tests in the morning

Could someone clarify for me if I’m having my bloods in the morning at 9am.I’m taking.

2 grains of thyroid s in the morning ( which I’ve had)

20 mg of T3 at 12 o’clock ( which I’ve had)

1 grain of thyroid s and 10 mg T3 at 6 o’clock ..not had yet.

I think I remember it’s ok to have my 6 o’clock dose as it’s got to be 12 hours without any T3 is that correct?

Many thanks.

Tanya

To make it 12 hours, you would have to delay your 6 o'clock dose to 9 o'clock. And that would be alright. :)

Still take the thyroid s with T4 in it at 9 ,o’clock will be ok? Along with 10 mg of T3?

Is it just Levothyroxine that’s recommend too leave 24 hours?

Thank you for you’re swift reply.😊

Yes, it's levo - T4 - that you need to leave 24 hours for. For T3, or anything containing T3, it's 8 - 12 hours. :)

But the thyroid s has T4 in it...and the lady below is saying something different 😩 ..all so stressful.

Yes, she is, but for a different reason. Her family need high doses of NDT, which doctors are not prepared to prescribe - a problem I know very well! So, what she is proposing, in effect, is cheating - justifiable cheating.

If we are talking about what is the normal/usual proceedure, then you leave 24 hours for T4, and 8 - 12 hours for T3. That way, you get the most accurate result of what is usually circulating in your blood. I know Thyroid S contains T4, but you can't separate them, can you? When you are taking T3, the most important number is the FT3 - the FT4 will be low, anyway. It's the FT3 you need to know the correct level of.

I don't know what your situation is, if you are looking for an increase in dose that you can't get, like reallyfedup's family, or if you just want to know the correct level. But, you have to know the rules before you can break them. Once you understand that, then you can 'adapt' the proceedure to fit your needs. But, I just told you the normal proceedure so that you can understand it.

Hope I've explained that clearly. :)

Yes I understand thank you...whilst taking T3 is there a reason why the T4 drops below range and is this ok?

It doesn't always drop below range, but it does drop. Why, nobody seems to know. There was a discussion on that, on here a short while ago, but opinions were varied, and nobody could point to any research in that area. We didn't come to any concrete conclusions.

Whether it's ok or not depends on the person. Some people need to take levo with their NDT to feel well. Myself, I'm fine with zero T4 - I have no thyroid and take T3 only. It's something we have to find out for ourselves. :)
