As suggested in reply to your previous thread, eating liver, liver pate, black pudding and iron rich foods is the easiest way to raise your ferritin level. Advising anyone to take iron tablets is not a good idea when only ferritin has been tested. An iron panel would need to be done because if your serum iron is already good/high then taking iron tablets will raise it and that's not a good idea.
Did you check for signs of B12 deficiency with the link I gave? Do you have any?
Hi I have a few but not a lot for the B12 but I have done some research following your advice and I want to make sure all my minerals and vitamins are optimal, I do eat a lot of red meat already and have had to have iron infusions in the past so thought I would try to give myself a health overhaul and really try to give my body what it needs as I seem to be getting nowhere with the GPS, I thought if I start taking some vitamins myself but not too sure of amounts to take daily.
It would be foolish for anyone to advise taking iron tablets without seeing results for an iron panel. Liver is the way to go to raise ferritin, not just red meat. If you've had iron infusions in the past, then your doctor is supposed to monitor you and if levels fall again then address them.
You could look at sublingual methylcobalamin for supplementing low B12, but if you have any signs and symptoms of B12 deficiency then further testing should be carried out first.
