Pantethine,......has anyone taken this product and its upset them, then subsequently found a brand that suited them ?

I took Jarrows Pantethine in quite a high dose, but only for about 7 days as it gave me a very upset stomach , so I stopped it. I then bought Thorne Research's Pantethine 250mg capsules.

I started by halving the capsules at first, - this was a bit better (although my bowels were often loose). Then I took the full capsule for 5 days, but that has now given me IBS. So again I have stopped it

However I really miss taking it, as it was really helping my adrenal situation, especially increased energy !

So if anyone has had a similar situation and found a product that helped them, could you please let me know ?

Thanks.

I take NOW Pantothenic Acid 500 mg along with 1000-2000 mg Vitamin C for my adrenals. Pantothenic Acid is not the activated form of B5, but I find it quite effective. Many people, myself included, have to go easy with the methylated or activated forms of B Vitamins, because they can cause side effects/reactions in a subset of folks. The way I get around that is by taking Thorne Activated B Complex every other day. But, I take the Vitamin C and the 500 mg Pantothenic Acid everyday for my adrenals, even on the days that I take the activated form. This way I am still getting the ready to use, activated form, but in doses low enough not to trigger any type of reaction. I've been doing it this way for a few years now and my adrenals have been faring pretty well.

I'm glad, because I can't tolerate adaptogens or medicinal mushrooms, so I am limited in the things I can try for my adrenals. But, for me, the least amount of intervention generally works best.

I have good luck with NOW, Thorne, and Nature's Way brands to name a few. I generally stick with Thorne for the activated/methylated B Complex. But, I don't do well with Jarrow formulations at all.

All the best in your search.😊

Thank you for your reply. It's very helpful !

In fact I too am very sensitive to products and try to be quite careful !

I was taking pantothenic acid (Viridian 350mg) before I switched to the Pantethine, , and I have now gone back to the pantothenic acid, because I do need it for my adrenals.

I almost flatlined last April, through taking Ashwaghanda which was prescribed by a functional doctor for the adrenals !!! I was quite unaware that it was lowering my cortisol !!!! I am taking Nutri Adrenal plus 3000mg vitamin C and Sea salt. But I've been wary of taking the activated form of Vit B, in case that upset me.

When your adrenals are low it is not comfortable to make mistakes!!!!

taking the Pantethine has messed up my micro biome , so that has to be sorted now !!!

What is medicinal mushrooms ?

Thanks.

Reishi, Chaga, Agaricus, Lions Mane, Shiitake, Maiitake, and Cordyceps are mushrooms that have adaptogenic properties. Reishi and Cordyceps are two that are widely used for adrenal issues. They work well for many people. But, I am very sensitive to mycotoxins (mold) which mushrooms inherently contain. I would love to be able to use them. There are some very good formulas that utilize a variety of them that get very good reviews. You may want to look into them. They may work for you. I also use a homemade electrolyte solution (you can find recipes online) and extra sea salt especially when I have a crash. And I up my Vitamin C and potassium as well, if I'm not getting enough in my diet. I also supplement with magnesium glycinate and a plant based probiotic for gut health. It's a terrible struggle, isn't it? Hope you can get everything sorted soon.😊

Well I never knew that about the mushrooms. I might try it. However I don't have mushrooms that often as I too am sensitive to mold and you would probably need to eat them fairly regularly for them to have an affect on the adrenals ?

I do have quite a bit of sea salt, plus I use Dr Sarah Myhill's sunshine salt, (which contains all the minerals we need), on my meals. I have just upped my vitamin c , in the buffered powder form. And I also have Magnesium glycinate. But what plant based probiotic do you use? And what is a "homemade electrolyte solution"?

The mushrooms are dried and capsulated in various adrenal complex formulas or singularly, so you aren't constantly having to eat mushrooms.

I use Mary Ruth Organics (not sure if they ship to UK, though) plant based liquid probiotics. But, you may be able to order it through Amazon UK instead of their website. It's worth checking out. It has no taste and you spray it in your mouth. Megaspore probiotics get excellent reviews, but I have never tried them. You can Google to see other options. Thorne may make one.

Adrenal issues can negatively affect electrolyte balance. Always being on the verge of dehydration is detrimental to the whole system. Commercial electrolyte solutions are costly. So, it's cheaper to make your own.

This is how I make mine:

(I make 3 days worth at a time.)

*3 cups filtered water

*3-6 tsp sugar

*3/4-1 tsp sea salt

*600 mg (1 rounded scoop) magnesium malate or glycinate powder

*1200-1300 mg (3 scoops) potassium citrate powder

*(Optional) Add several packets of unsweetened crystalized lemon or lime

I drink 1 cup a day when I am struggling with my adrenals. I find drinking 1/3 cup, 3x daily always keeps some in your system.
