Hi all
I just thought i had better share my experience with a local heart doctor. This guy seems to be a genuine maverick in the health industry and i have heard someone call him this at the local hospital. He's a maverick because he seems to genuinely care about health care and the patient.
He has a tube channel and his videos are very informative. His opening video in this link is a statement on health care generally and it sums up who he is.

I thought i would share, even though it is not thyroid related, because he has some good info on ectopic heart beats and i know thyroid patients do experience this. I am sure he would be open to interacting with thyroid patients if they had any questions on thyroid and the heart as well.
My experience with him was in November last year. I saw his videos on tube and i wondered about getting an echo cardiogram because i am interested in seeing how my heart is getting on because i am in that mid life zone and not far off 50. Also another player in my squash league is the same age and he was telling me about his quadruple heart op a year or two ago. It came totally out of the blue for him and because we are the same age it got me thinking. So i finally bit the bullet and arranged to see Dr Gupta.
I emailed him directly and he replied that evening with a number to call his secretary on. So i sorted out an appointment privately within a week. Cost £200.
I booked an echocardiogram and he basically said i was wasting my money. I really needed the full heart scan to see the state of the arteries in the heart area. This was going to cost £900 so i said i would have to pass on that. He then said to keep my money from today (so no fee for his time) and to rebook for another appointment and he would refer me on the NHS for the scan and the echo cardiogram.
So i have had them all done and it cost me his fee of £200 for his consult. I get the results at the end of the month.
He had a good chat with me at the consultation about people working too hard and how easily they are replaced. I am sure he has seen so many people just flog themselves for a corporate entity to then end up ill and on the scrap heap it has shaped how he sees life.
