Hi everyone, just wanted to share with you my weight loss journey. Have under active thyroid and hashimotos. I come from a fitness and personal training background and eat a very clean diet, after putting on 4 stone and eating sensible and monitoring my calories I just couldn’t shift it!!

My amazing endo suggested Victoza injections

I AM PLEASED TO TELL YOU THAT I HAVE LOST NEARLY 2 STONE in 4 months, for us thyroid sufferers it really is about getting the metabolism balanced again. I know we are all different but it worked for me thank god, so do some research and ask for it, may just be the answer.

Thank you for sharing your stories x

Is this a UK NHS endocrinologist?

Was your blood sugar high before you started on this?

My endocrinologist does private and nhs. I saw him privately first. I had been asking for T3 for about 2 years and my doctor just was not clued up. He told me he couldn’t prescribe it for me until a consultant agreed it, hence the private appointment. I then realised it was all about funding!! I had been really ill for about 8 years, within 3 days of taking T3, my life changed.

I didn’t have high blood sugar but my blood tests showed that I was at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. However I could not change my diet as it was already clean and healthy.

So the weight thing was a real issue for me and I told the endo that no one was listening to the fact that I was not over eating!!! Or eating rubbish!!!

He then suggested the Victoza, it has worked for me. And I believe that as hypothyroid sufferers we can’t process the insulin as well as others,

You don’t need to be diabetic to have Victoza

You just need a good endo.

I hope this helps others on here x

Hi Cranio,

I'm so pleased for you, it's encouraging to hear a success story!

I once was a fit weight lifting gym obsessed gal. 4 stone later it's hard to believe!

Do you mind PMing me the name of your Endo? Sounds like one that's worth the fee, whatever this may be!

Thanks! X

I see on Victoza's own website:

What is the most important information I should know about Victoza®?

Victoza® may cause serious side effects, including:

Possible thyroid tumors, including cancer. Tell your health care provider if you get a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing, or shortness of breath. These may be symptoms of thyroid cancer. In studies with rats and mice, Victoza® and medicines that work like Victoza® caused thyroid tumors, including thyroid cancer. It is not known if Victoza® will cause thyroid tumors or a type of thyroid cancer called medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) in people.

I had a real good chat with the endocrinologist

And he reassured me! I trust him and the weight loss has made me feel better.

It is a personal choice but I was so grateful for the help x

I have found that since T3 was added I am very slowly loosing weight. (About 20lbs in a year)

Recently had my blood sugar levels tested and was very good. I do eat clean, low sugar, gluten free, soya free diet. Plus all vitamins supplementing to be optimal
