Possibly an odd question and I may be off track here but I wondered if those who have had a diagnosis of Thyroid disfunction have ever had their anti-ccp tested ( bloods)?
I am curious if there is a connection and wonder what your results have been?

As a test for RA, it wouldn't be routinely considered necessary just because there is thyroid dysfunction, only where RA is suspected or has been diagnosed. RA is an autoimmune condition, and if you have one, there's a higher risk of developing others; so if you have Hashimoto's and are developing symptoms of RA it would would be appropriate to test. I believe the NICE guidelines on diagnosing, treating and managing RA were reviewed last year and possibly strengthened in favour of anti-CCG testing for confirmatory testing.
Thx... it does seem to sit hand in hand. I was diagnosed with RA 3 yrs ago and now symptoms are looking like Thyroid disfunction in addition. However, looking historically at symptoms I suspect something was occuring ( possibly Thyroid related) some 5yrs plus ago! I’m curious what percentage of suffers have Thyroid dysfunction plus RA....
Being tested for Hashimoto's if you haven't already, could be a good first step. Yes, there does seem to be some evidence that the two can go hand in hand. healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...
