I am starting to take Jarrows Folate and Vit D after finding these were both low in range. Do I have to leave 4 hrs after NDT before taking them?
Folate, Vit D: I am starting to take Jarrows... - Thyroid UK
Folate, Vit D
Did you have your vit B12 tested, too? If not, you should get your B12 tested before starting to supplement folate.
Vit D should be taken four hours away from thyroid hormones, yes. But, B vitamins can be taken two hours away.
Thanks Greygoose. I had an Active B12 test done which was good in range.
Yes, but were in-range? Was it over half-way through the range?
Active B12 106 (37.50-188), Vit D 48 (50-200), Folate 2.6 (3.89-26.80).
Well, that's under-midrange for the B12. I think, if I were you, I'd get a B complex with methylcobalamin (B12) and at least 400 mcg methylfolte, and that will bring both of them up. Best to take all the Bs together, anyway.
The vit D and folate are very low. How about ferritin, did you get that tested?
Ferritin was 208 (13-150). Not sure why this is high?
Did you have your CRP tested at the same time? High levels of inflammation can raise ferritin levels.
I did & it was not high.
OK, well, perhaps you should see your doctor about that high ferritin, then. I don't know enough about it to suggest any other reason why it might be high.
