I notice people are on t3 but where do they get it from? My doc doesn't acknowledge it.

T3 can help if you don't convert T4 to T3 well enough. To know that you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 all tested at the same time. If your GP wont do it then you can use one of our recommended private labs to do a home fingerprick test (or venous blood draw if preferred). Please don't take T3 unless you know you need it.
It's difficult to get on the NHS at the moment and many of us self source it but we can't discuss suppliers on the open forum.
Thank you. Where can I get a list of the recommended private labs?

Most popular with members are Blue Horizon and Medichecks.
Blue Horizon has 20% discount until the end of December with code ENDOF YEAR.
Medichecks has 10% discount with code THYROIDUK
If you've not had vitamins and minerals tested for current levels, I'd advise getting the full thyroid panel plus vitamins/minerals, nutrient levels need to be optimal for thyroid hormone to work properly and before considering T3.
Blue Horizon Thyroid PLUS ELEVEN
Medichecks Thyroid Check ULTRAVIT
How much Levothyroxine are you currently taking?
Do you have any recent blood test results and ranges you can add?
If getting private testing, Make sure to test thyroid antibodies and vitamins too
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised
All thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Do not take Levothyroxine dose in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take immediately after blood draw. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).
About 90% of all hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's. Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .

"My Dr doesn't acknowledge it" - well he's clearly not reading his MIMS or the British National Formulary: bnf.nice.org.uk/drug/liothy...
I had my t3 done privately and my Dr saw the result. Tbf it was in range so he didn't need to offer advice on t3 replacement.
Tbh Im realising a good healthy diet and healthy exercise is so important along with certain vitamins. I just don't have the time to be on these forums being given contradicting advice. But I understand how people get hooked.
