Hello 😀. Was hoping you lovely people here could help me decipher my blood test results. You will see that Reverse T3 was taken one week after initial tests. My GP could not read the results unfortunately. Either way, I’m sure I will get a better understanding off you wonderful people.
Test results : Hello 😀. Was hoping you lovely... - Thyroid UK
Test results
Presumably you are on T3 only?
Very low TSH, virtually undetectable FT4 and rather low FT3
Reverse T3 is made from T4.
As you have very low FT4 it's not surprising that Reverse T3 is very very low.
What are dose of T3 are you taking, is it as single dose or split multi dosing
do you have Hashimoto's, if so are you on strictly gluten free diet
How do you feel?
What are vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels and what supplements are you taking?
Thank you for your help, I very much appreciate it.
Answering your questions:
..I have in the past been on T3 medication...compounded slow release. I have been off it for a long time now and was off it for about 3 weeks prior to this last test. Dose ended up being 30mcg.
..previous I this test my RT3 was too high...and it showed.
..I have not been diagnosed with Hashimoto’s but I am on a gluten free diet, due to bloating.
..I feel tired constantly, have no energy...couch ridden. If I go out one day, am debilitated the next.
..was on supplements...too much iodine was making me ill. Will go on another. Will get levels assessed again.
Please note: my new doctor has now asked me to take T4. I had taken this in the past many years ago referred to by GP. It did absolutely nothing for me then but race my heart rate. Blood testing back then all the time with no answers giving different rates consistently. So you can imagine my reluctance when my new doctor has now asked me to take the exact same T4 again.
Ideally you only test 6-8 weeks after any change in dose
So you had been on any thyroid medication for 3 weeks prior to this test?
TSH is not responding to extremely low FT4 and low FT4
Looking at central hypothyroidism possibly
Are you in the U.K.?

Iodine is an extremely controversial supplement. Many specialists recommend avoiding it absolutely completely. It use to be used to treat hyperthyroid patients
