Can Autoimmune conditions be prevented or reversed?

I’m fascinated with the Microbiome & understand that science is still only scratching the surface on the subject.

Research into Microbiome appear to be suggesting links to all sorts from Autism to Autoimmune.

Be wary of sites, seminars, and anyone selling the idea that autoimmune diseases can be cured. Be especially wary of sites that claim you can heal yourself naturally or try to sell you something. Most of this is pseudoscience, which uses real studies and research to justify claims that twist or outright lie about the findings of the research.

Many scientists are working on this, and research includes the gut microbiome, viral changes to DNA expression, and bacterial infections which all might contribute to autoimmunity. I am confident that in the future science will find the answer.

However, at this moment, there is no scientific evidence that we can cure autoimmune diseases with current medical knowledge. There's no harm in watching things like this, but take a sceptical approach and be prepared to challenge assumptions and claims; and look at existing scientific research (using published studies in reputable journals); google scholar is good for this. Information from an alternative medicine site/supplement shop is often inaccurate or plain wrong.

Doctors have limited understanding of autoimmune conditions, but what is known is:

1. There is a genetic factor meaning that there is a higher likelihood of developing an autoimmune condition if a close genetic family member has that condition or another autoimmune disease.

2. Autoimmune conditions are not contagious and do not involve viruses or bacteria.

One possible cause of autoimmune conditions is thyroid hormone resistance, also known as impaired sensitivity to thyroid hormone (ISTH). The characteristics of autoimmune condition can be explained by ISTH:

- The cause of autoimmune conditions is unknown due to the fact that ISTH has never been considered as a possible cause.

- ISTH causes a decline in the body’s metabolism and circulation and this is likely to be one of the most important factors leading to the autoimmune conditions.

- ISTH is genetic and explains the family incidence of autoimmune conditions.

- ISTH is not contagious.

Mmm ... When you have to sign up to get something that actually could be directly available on a web site, and in doing so, get a wonderful free something else, that also could be directly available (there's plenty of videos freely and openly available on YouTube) and then you read the all too familiar variation on the words "But, unfortunately, the pharmaceutical companies/government/world leaders/communists don’t want you to know about it. Sadly, your local doctor is very unlikely to tell you about it, if they want to keep their job" then you can't help but have a very real sense of exactly what's going on ......

Double Mmm, MaisieGray I'm very sceptical of this. Definitely a duck (quack, quack!!! :-D)

One look at the site confirmed it

OK, I didn’t even notice the links & wouldn’t click on any that wanted money.

I posted in case anyone might be interested in the idea of research into the Microbiome showing links with autoimmune conditions.
