NDT making me very sleepy??

Hi this is my day 5 on 1/2 grain nature throid. Private prescription from dr F. So far this is the only side effect. Take it in 2 doses split but about ah hour after i have almost crashing fatigue i have to really push myself. Then im kinda ok till afternoon dose same happens lasts a few hours. I have a great evening go to bed late sleep like a log? Why is it im soooo sleepy? Any ideas?

I should imagine because you are on a tiny dose which is made worse by being divide in two! So at each 1/4 grain dose you're getting only 9.5 mcg T4 and 2.25 mcg T3 - a small stimulatory effect from the T3, for a short time (T3 is about 95% absorbed in c4 hours) whilst the T4 can take c6 wks to build to full effect.

I find this too but without a thyroid what can I expect it's so annoying. I also take NDT thyroid s. I know the pig thyroid is different in ratio to humans. I am on 2.1/4 grains per day but have tried 2, 2.5 and three with the same result. I have been taking this for over two years now. When I was on three grains per day my FT3 was well over range and I was losing too much weight.

I don't know why this happens but hormone medication affects each person differently. Since it makes you sleepy, I would suggest that you take the full dose at bedtime. Good luck figuring it out.
