Help please!

I am hypothyroid diagnosed in 2002 on 225 levo daily! I am really struggling to cope and understand what is going on with my body and mind! My GP is of little or no help is there anyone here in the north of Scotland who can point me in the direction of a good Dr/endo? Or anyone who can help me?

I agree, you need your most recent blood tests results especially FreeT3. When was this last tested?

If you are still having symptoms of Hypothyroidism then I would keep pestering GP (is there a different GP at the practice you could see). Is there anyone you can take with you for some moral support.

In Wales GPs can't get FT3 tested , only hospital Consultants.

I would write a list of all symptoms (is your temperature low ?) and take to GP. Seek a referal to a different Endocrinologist.

What happened with Vitamin D? Surely you should have been left on a daily maintenance dose? What was your last test result?

Could you put your last 2 series of tests results on here -

TSH

FT4

FT3

TPO (if ever tested)

Vitamin D

Folate

Ferritin

plus any other test results done.

Are you still on the B12 injections?

Have you ever had an Ultrasound scan of your Thyroid & Parathyroids?

Have you had Calcium & Phosphorus tested.

Have you applied for copies of your hospital records? Since 25 May 2018 anyone in UK can get them free of charge.

EDIT

I have just looked at your post from 4 months ago - all those replies are relevant and still apply today.

Is your other medication stopping the absorption of your Levothyroxine because you are seriously Hypothyroid.

Are you still with the same GP - you need to see another GP with those results and complain to your MP immediately and ask them to get you in with a Specialist.

Yes - thanks Marz. Just read thread and clearly this needs action - 4 months ago.

Have just edited reply.

I think you need to act on your 4 months old post replies and results from back then.

Why have B12 injections stopped ?

I think she has just stopped the supplements - not the jabs !

Having looked at your Medichecks results in your previous post, my first question is, have you shown them to your GP? Is he aware that your thyroid hormones are below range and understands that it's no wonder you don't feel well. Also has he made the connection between your high end dose of Levo and your abysmal serum levels? If you haven't shown him, that's what you need to do; and if you have shown him, you need to see another Dr in the practise if there is one, and perhaps contact Patient Advice and Support Service (PASS) which is run by CAB. Consider making a formal complaint to your surgery as its not about whether there is or isn't an alternative to Levo, it's about your thyroid hormones not even creeping into their respective reference ranges even with that dose of Levo, and nothing being done about it.

Thanks for all your feedback folks! I am going to do another Medichecks test to get most up to date results. Once done I’ll post on here before going back to GP my regular one is on maternity leave so I’d have to see someone different!

I really appreciate you all taking the time to read and comment on my post

The people on here will help you but you must provide us with your latest blood test results including the ranges. Take the test first thing fasting. Leave off Levo for 24 hours prior to the test. Most of us on here have to take private test to receive all of the information that is required.

I have sent for Medichecks test.

Not taking b12 supplements anymore only 10 weekly injections.

Still on 40 fluoxetine but reducing gradually.

Given 1 course only long ago of vit D.

Going to write a list of symptoms and will take them with Medichecks results when I get them.

Will post on here once I get results!

Thank you all!
