Thanks. This really useful. There may be studies here we can present to GPs and endos when challenging their approach to treatment. 😀
Yes, agreed - ammo is always good. Sadly, they have 'their own policies' [Boys Club little pet theories] which flies in the face with any/everything of historical significance and current research. Oh, my GP practice recently told me that 'docs aren't paid to read' stuff patients bring in. Best of - we all need it - and this kind of info can only be good for us to brush ourselves up on. xox
NB Free registration of one chapter and $20 for access to all. I like the thorough consideration of everything Thyroid before hyper or hypo even discussed.
Thank you so much... and at least we can spend what's left of ours in fervent determination of how crap 'they' are

This site is useful to me to know what Americans are thinking about how to manage thyroid disease and what tests to use and how to interpret them. Personally I have quite a lot of doubt about the official stance here, because that is what it is, like the NHS/BTF/BTA in the UK.. The use of FT3 tests is very downplayed except for hyperthyroidism diagnosis. In fact the US is extremely backward in that it prefers total T3 on the whole where any T3 test is used. Using FT3 to monitor treatment, and an acknowledgement of poor conversion and what to do won't be found here to any useful extent. See Bianco's attempts to bring this to the foreground in recent times, after the date 2017 of this MS. There is also an air of exceptionalism (ie exclusion of ideas not American developed) which is a feature of that country's attitude to others. However, it is useful to note any advancement in thinking here, which predates the response of the smallbrained dinosaurs of the UK, who will stumble unwillingly after the more dynamic attitude of the US in this. The US is very influential in other countries' takeup of ideas outside Europe, who have their own agenda. This is different again from th UK who tend to follow the US.
