Does anyone take any of the Levothyroxine oral solutions that don’t contain either of these ingredients? Do they work as effectively as the tablets? How would I potentially be able to try one via my GP? I’m currently on TEVA 125mcg (as they don’t contain lactose but I notice they contain corn derivatives which I am sensitive to).
Any guidance/experiences much appreciated
Thank you!

Oral solutions are, in general, very expensive. Currently the tariff price for 28 X 25 mcg tablets is £1.99 whilst 100ml (25mcg per 5 ml X 20 doses) is £94.96. (I don't know the ingredients for this only that it's sugar-free).
So 125mcg daily would cost £0.35 for tablets and £23.74 for liquid solution, if my maths is correct.
[The differential changes slightly if 125mg is dispensed in 100mcgs or 50mcgs (tariff price per 28 days £1.11 and £1.10 respectively) but it's immaterial]
Hi, I work with oral liquids and pharmaceutical development. I have looked in to Levothyroxine Oral Solutions before I was diagnosed as hypo. The best thing to do to find out all the ingredients is to look for a Summary Of Product Characteristics (SPC) (just Google 'Levothyroxine Oral Solution SPC'). I know TEVA make Oral solutions of Levo so maybe look for those. I think if you ask your GP they should be able to give it to you however it was very expensive for the NHS to buy so they probably won't have it in and would have to order it in. I know TEVA do a 25mcg, 50mcg and 100mcg strength not sure if they do any other strengths in liquid form. The SPCs will be able to tell you. To find out who owns the licence scroll to the bottom of the SPC and look at the Marketing Authorisation Holder these sometimes say a different name but they are the same company so just Google the name if it's someone you've not heard of as it may very well be marketed until someone else label. Hope this helps! Ingredients are also listed as excipients.
