Dental materials

Hi,

I am seeing an holistic dentist right now to remove amalgam filling and root canals but now need some restorative work done.

I would like to get all of the new materials that my dentist plans on using tested for biocompatibility.

I don't know the best way to do this in the UK.

Does anyone know a way of getting a "serum compatibility" test done in the UK?

I've had the Melisa test done which shows that I have many issues with metals etc but its all the other stuff like zirconia and the cements that I want testing, as I want to know for sure that I won't have a reaction to any of them once there permanently put in my mouth!

Is Applied Kinesiology the only way we can get this stuff tested in this country?

We seem to be so far behind the USA when it comes to this kind of thing!

Any help or advise would be most grateful.

Maybe we’re less gullible to dental voodoo in the UK? Any self respecting dentist will give you an ‘holistic’ view of dental care and it’s effect on your body. And they will know the contents of any dental material. My advice would be to save your money on your ‘holistic’ dentist, get a good denplan policy and find a dentist you like who knows what he’s talking about and won’t charge you a massive premium for the word ‘holistic’ on his business card.

I totally agree

I don't know which part of the country you're in but most of the dentists I've come across don't have a clue about the effect of what they put in your mouth on your body. And most are still happy to poison us with amalgam and flouride.

You could try contacting Elmar Jung - he's German and a truly holistic dentist (in Portsmouth). If anyone knows the answer he will.

Hi dina7, many thanks for the info on a good dentist.

I actually do have a great dentist (he is not holistic as such, but very aware of the issues some people are having with various dental materials).

My issue really is with the new materials he's is planning on using.

They are all top grade, metal free etc, but we decided to try and get these new materials tested for biocompatibility as I seem to react to absolutely everything going!

I have heard that Allied Kinesiology might be able to show if I am having a reaction to any of them.

I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to go down this route!

Maybe I didn't quite explain my situation properly in m y original post. I apologise for that.

I understand - i'm sure Elmar wouldn't mind if you gave him a ring, or emailed him to ask if/how you can get the new materials tested. He is coming to talk to my thyroid support group on Saturday and I'll try to remember to ask him for you.

Elmar mentioned this in his talk on Saturday! I think it's the Clifford material reactivity test you need, done by LTT. He also mentioned applied kinesiology. But said they are all tests done on the day so could be different the next day.

HI,

Thank you so m much for your reply. I will research the Clifford test (not heard of that one before).

I'm amazed that more people haven't replied to my request as I thought that this would've been an issue for anyone with an autoimmune disease to be checking out.

It's exhausting having to try and work everything out by yourself!

America and also many parts of Europe, do these compatibly testing as a matter of course. When I approach dentists in the UK about it, Ive been made to feel that I'm talking out the top of my head! It makes me soooo mad!

Regarding the Allied Kinesiology, maybe I could get tested three of four times over a couple of weeks to see if I got the same results.

Worth a try I guess.

I think maybe because removing amalgam fillings is very risky as the amalgam dust can be inhaled and/or swallowed and cause inflammation and onset of another autoimmunity. Many advise not to touch them.
