What effect does iodine have on thyroid, when I was in my twenties and overstressed with studies, I was given Lugnols Iodine and and antidepressant.
Iodine: What effect does iodine have on thyroid... - Thyroid UK
Iodine
Oh my goodness. As you can guess from the names of the thyroid hormones such as tri-iodothyronine (T3) and tetra- iodothyronine (T4) etc, iodine plays a key role in their production. However, an excess of iodine, and taking iodine when unnecessary, causes the enzymes in the thyroid to reduce their activity, with the result that thyroid hormones output is reduced and TSH rises. This would potentially bring about symptoms typical of an underactive thyroid including anxiety and depression .....
I didn't know about too much iodine making things worse till joining this forum a few months ago. Unless you live in a low iodine area supplementing can be harmful.
Do you still take it? What about the antidepressants?
Hi, lots of information on this site - you'll need to click through to different pages to get it all:
healyourselfathome.com/HOW/...
That this document states
"Use iodine/iodide in preference to thyroid hormone supplementation" and
"Further, they discovered that this is the treatment of choice for both hypothyroid and hyperthyroid problems with or without goiter. Doctors achieved up to 90% cure rate with hyperthyroid (overactive thyroid) by using high daily doses (6-37mg) of iodine, doses which were equally effective in resolving cases of hypothyroid (underactive thyroid)" is very worrying. Equally, it's risible - how can the same (or any) doses of iodine which cures an overactive thyroid also cure an underactive thyroid?
Sorry but that link does half have some nonsense.
Suggests that no-one in Japan has keloid scars because of their iodine intake.
You really don't have to go far to find adverts for Japanese clinics for treating keloid scars...
azabu-skinclinic.com/englis...
Or many conference papers about keloid scars in a Japan Scar Workshop
scar-keloid.com/en/annual_m...
I don't think they would exist if keloids weren't well-known in Japan.
