Newly diagnosed tho great to know what I have and am not going mad can't seem to get much advice

I guess some help understanding how to feel better my doc just phoned me told me come in said my levels low need to take thyroxin .I've been unwell for quite while thought was menopause memory probs constant tummy bugs hair coming out depression. Have got in trouble with work wondering should I tell

Yes.

See your boss and explain you have just been diagnosed as hypothyroid and are starting on Levothyroxine

You may need to work reduced hours or part time until you start to improve

Jeez I'm heading for final warning don't know if they will accept I just been diagnosed think they think I'm just being a chancer

Definitely speak to your manager and explain you have thyroid disease which impacts total function until you are correctly medicated. Explain that 1 in 20 people have some form of thyroid disease and once properly treated, it is generally well managed. Most people understand diabetes so you could say it is an endocrine disorder as is diabetes. With the right treatment you will recover but it can take 6 months to a year to correct the hormone deficiency and you may need to reduce your hours meantime. The condition will not vanish with treatment. It's a long term condition but can be well managed with thyroid hormone replacement.
