Hi Meena. Where in the world are you? Are you in the UK? If so, where? We don’t tend to publish names of tried and tested specialists here (they’re not that easy to find, are they? So we try to protect the good ones. But if you provide more details members may be able to let you know by private message).
What sort of thyroid disorder do you have? Are you under or overactive?
A few more details will make it easier for members to assist you.
Are you treated/on medication? How long have you been taking it?
Thanks for replying. I live in Hertfordshire but will travel to see the specialist. I am diagnosed with under active thyroid about 30 years ago. I take 75 mcg or 125 mcg of thyroxine depending on the result. But it fluctuates quite a lot specially for the past two years. Not sure what's causing it to fluctuate so much. I have seen an Endo in the past but not much help! So would like to have investigated thoroughly. As I believe there must be a reason.
Any help would be grately appreciated. Also looking for endocronoligist for my 23 year old daughter who suffers from PCOS which means her periods are every 3 to 4 months and is getting hair growth on her face which is quite embarrassing.
Welcome to the forum! From what you say I'm suspecting your doctor is trying to treat you according to your TSH so if that's the case I'm not surprised about how you are feeling. Have you any actual results such as one where your medication was increased and one where he decreased as that will give us a better idea what is going on. It can be a long wait waiting to see an endocrinologist so let's see if we can help in the meantime. Does he actually test FT4 and FT3 or is he only doing TSH? Sadly that is becoming more prominent now and really it's not helpful so many of us have to rely on private testing but an endocrinologist should do a full panel.
Hi, thanks for your help. I will get the results and post them. I m trying to find a thyroid specialist but I will sure post my results. Very very grateful for your input.
