yes I heard the programme. And yes truly shocking but very well done to the lady for telling her plight and highlighting the whole sorry situation in this country regarding this illness and she's still struggling on. The curt response from the MHRA was so understated as to be 'not worth the effort'.
Wondered if she is a member? Hope so, if so well done. SallyB
PS Do give it a listen if you missed it as it's an eye opener.
The MHRA response, if read out in full, was also highly inaccurate.
It expressly said to restrict medicines to those "prescribed by your GP". Which means no dentists, nurse practitioners, hospital doctors or anyone else with prescribing powers.
Considering the MHRA's ability to be highly precise to the extent of pedantry, and that the status of desiccated thyroid is a licensed medicine in some countries, that statement should be admitted as being misleading and inaccurate.
wish a legal team would take this case on & get an apology & some financial compensation for this person. She didn't deserve this.Also.she has an underactive thyroid.Imagine her poor adrenals coping with this.
They've treated her as if she has Munchausen by Proxi.
It's on at 5.45am BBC Radio 4. Programme is called IPM. You can listen on BBC iplayer. It's usually about members of the publics life experiences. Only 15 mins long.
It's sad how defeated she seems by the process She doesn't defend her actions at all, even though the evidence that comes up is striking. The same medicine was prescribed by a doctor close to the time if her arrest.
It very much reads that she was punished for going outside the system, not for any issues with the medication itself.
Also alarming that the information got into police hands through the child telling a school counsellor who then considered it a safeguarding issue. Its interesting to think how many very subjective decisions were made all through the chain that lead to her arrest.
I think she has only just started to progress from the actual arrest. And she had to be very careful not to stir the hornets' nest and attract further unwanted (and unjustified) attention. Put the two together and that might explain something of how she came across.
Not suprised after what she'd been through.Like a very subtle version of police state tactics.Mind you,its better here in these corrupt capitalist democracies than in a genuine police state.
We don't know we're born half the time, but there's always room for improvement, especially if you've got an underactive thyroid
Perhaps they should be more concerned with parents giving kids energy drinks....if they are not ‘administering noxious substances with the intent to do harm’ then is she really?
